Richard Bistrong

Front-Line Anti-Bribery & Corruption

Richard spent much of his career as an international sales executive and currently consults and speaks on foreign bribery, ethics and compliance issues from that front-line perspective on a global basis to compliance, commercial and leadership teams.

In 2018, Richard was named by Thomson Reuters as one of the top 50 social influencers in risk and compliance. In 2017, he was named by Compliance Week as a Top Mind in the field of Governance, Risk and Compliance, and one of Ethisphere’s 100 Most Influential in Business Ethics in 2016.

Grant Griffiths

Risk Management, Governance and Compliance

Grant is an internationally recognised non-executive director and risk, governance and compliance professional. He has held senior leadership roles in FTSE, NYSE and NASDAQ listed companies working for global businesses in various sectors.

Grant is an advisor to boards on risk, governance and sustainability, and has led major transformation programmes. He is a non-executive director of Flexmind, and a Member of the Advisory Board of Speak Up at Work (UK). He is a member of the Institute of Risk Management serving as Global Ambassador, and as Deputy Chair of the Energy Special Interest Group, a member of the Institute of Directors and the Institute of Strategic Risk Management.

Grant is advisor to Speak Up At Work and is based in Istanbul.

 

Animah Kosai

Speak Up Culture, Ethics & Compliance, and Harassment

Animah is founding director of Speak Up At Work and co-founder of Speak Up Academy. Her legal career spans 24 years in legal practice and the oil and gas industry, primarily in Malaysia, where she has played a key role in corporate governance, business ethics, compliance and creating safe speaking up cultures.

She is writes and speaks prolifically on corporate corruption, safety and harassment, in US based Anti-Corruption Digest, CSA’s Governance & Compliance magazine, CNN and Malaysian news sites. She has been interviewed on TV and radio, including BFM Radio, TRT World and Astro Awani.

Her strong passion for social justice led her to coaching young Malaysians with the Malaysian Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights, co-founded Surya Women to empower working women, kickstarted CERAH to address the South East Asian Haze and Projek Layang-Layang to educate adults on child sexual abuse.

She is based in London.

 

Kernan Manion MD

Emotional Intelligence, Organisational Culture, Whistleblowing

Kernan is a US-educated board-certified physician whose career bridges the worlds of clinical psychiatry and organisational consulting. He is the Founder and Director of The Center for Physician Rights, a nonprofit based in Cambridge MA supporting physicians navigate the infringements of their rights according to the training and ethics of their profession. Recognising the critical role of emotional intelligence, Kernan is nearing completion of his groundbreaking book and online course “MindSense U – Helping You Achieve Lifelong Psychological Wellbeing”, which will also be offered as a course on Speak Up Academy.

He is co-founder of Speak Up Academy and is based in Massachusetts, USA.

 

 

Carita Nyberg

Leadership and Organisational Culture

Carita Nyberg is a Master trainer, Executive Coach and Keynote Speaker for her company Keys2Balance. She has facilitated and inspired many leaders and teams in bringing forth their true strengths and improving their leadership skills. She also works as a HR adviser and has experience in training leaders and teams in multicultural companies.

Her toolbox is Keys2Balance, a no-nonsense and fast approach with a set of nine practical keys for leadership, communication or wellbeing challenges. She is available as a keynote speaker: Stress free in three minutes; Authentic Leader; Transforming Toxic Workplaces.

Carita is based in Helsinki, Finland and works globally. Her past experience includes Leadership positions in marketing management and business strategy.

 

Shakirah Rahman

Sexual Harassment, Diversity & Inclusion

Shakirah is a regional Head of Growth in the edu-tech space where she develops organisational policies and strategies. Passionate about gender rights, she has been a member of Young Women Making Change (YWMC) Malaysia since 2014, pushing for legal reform and public education on sexual harassment. She facilitated workshops with Projek Layang-Layang educating adults on child sexual abuse. She has also served on the British High Commission’s Successor Generation Initiative Advisory Board as well as the National Youth Consultative Council.

Shakirah is partner of Speak Up Malaysia.

 

Emellia Shariff

Harassment, bullying, Diversity & Inclusion

Emellia has a unique combination of skills in legal practice, compliance and corporate governance through her experience as a corporate litigation lawyer as well as working in a multi-national conglomerate. She is a prominent gender rights advocate. Emellia is part of the team which drafted the Sexual Harassment Bill in Malaysia and has been invited as a speaker at various talks, including the recent Employment Conference 2019. She is the Founder and Editor-In-Chief of The G-Blog, Malaysia’s one and only gender publication platform, and is CEO of the Malaysian Institute for Debate & Public Speaking (MIDP) which works on human capital advancement.

Emellia is managing partner of Speak Up Malaysia and is based in Kuala Lumpur.

 

Janitha Sukumaran

PR Communications and Crisis Management

Janitha has been actively communicating for over 30 years, starting as a journalist before moving into public relations. She co-founded Rantau in 1992 (now Rantau-Golin) and led it to become a well-respected Malaysian-grown consultancy that specialises in C-Suite counsel, strategic communications and issues management, while maintaining a creative and results–driven approach.

Janitha is a lifetime member of the Public Relations Consultants’ Association of Malaysia (PRCA Malaysia), joining at its inception and has served several terms on the association’s executive committee. She also guest lectures at local universities on crisis management and how to get the best from communication strategies. Occasionally, she pens her thoughts on current issues that grab her attention, generally from a public relations perspective.

 

Asha Tharoor

Strategic Communications and Media Relations

Asha’s background in media advocacy spans 20 years, leading news teams in international development organisations at the ONE Campaign and ActionAid where she gained widespread media coverage on campaigns from global health to financial transparency, humanitarian emergencies and women and girls rights. 
 
Asha’s expertise in strategic communications has guided clients through crisis management, proactive report launches and reactive media relations. She has a strong understanding of our changing media landscape and has advised thought leaders in the socio -economic and political spheres. She is best known for helping organisations communicate complex issues effectively from tech ethics and public procurement to the causes of knife crime. She is a founding member of the Warrior Women Network and speaks regularly on panels and conferences on how to work with the media to change the narrative with powerful, human stories.
Asha is based in London.

Neil Tyson

Fraud, Risk Management & Compliance

Neil is an accredited counter fraud specialist and member of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management with over 20 years’ experience in helping organisations take a proactive risk-based approach to managing their legal and regulatory compliance. He has acted as a policy advisor to UK government including the Ministry of Justice in the development of Recovery of Defence Costs Orders in complex or high cost criminal cases.

Neil has also worked with FTSE 100 companies to reduce their cost of compliance and non-compliance, and gain a competitive advantage in the market. Neil is now an independent advisor in his own consultancy Rightway Compliance.

Neil is based in London.

 

Betty Yeoh

Gender, Harassment and Safeguarding

Betty is one of the co-founders of the All Women’s Action Society (AWAM) a Malaysian feminist organisation where she helped set up the services unit in the 1990s supporting women facing gender-based violence. Betty was a Trade Unionist, ensuring women’s rights at workplaces and the benefits for women are secured. She was trained as a Worker’s Educator in Sormaka, Norway and is a global trainer in leadership, and women and human rights for Women’s Learning Partnership, based in Washington DC. Her training in gender sensitivity saw her training the Malaysian Police, Doctors in the One Stop Crisis Centres, and Social Welfare Officers. In 2019, she headed a non governmental team in preparing a sexual harassment bill in Malaysia.

Betty is pursuing her Masters of Counselling which will enable her to be a registered, licensed Counsellor and currently works part-time in Kolej Tuaku Ja’afar, an International school as school counsellor. She is consultant on gender and discrimination for Engender Consultancy in Kuala Lumpur.
